Challenges for a sustainable development, increasing sales, strengthening the "Greek fish" brand and digital technologies were discussed during the second panel of the Fish Farming Symposium 2022 organized by the University of Patras, Next is Now and Dome Consulting Firm, under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. The moderator of the panel was the director of Realfm, Giorgos Houdalakis.
The vice president of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the University of Patras, Mr. Prof. Ioannis Theodorou noted that the university has started a research where an attempt is made to answer fish management questions but also how the farming in the sea is treated as a whole. "We're trying to build the literature of the documentation," he said. He even emphasized the important differences that European fish farming has in relation to the competition from third countries. "The fish produced in Europe have specific Community production standards and also Community controls that certify these standards. There are constant upgrades and improvements in processes."
